Discover the Art of Form with Uchronia in Dezeen & SketchUp’s Design Workshop

Want to see how SketchUp can bring bold, organic designs to life? In Dezeen and SketchUp’s Design Workshops, Uchronia founder Julien Sebban demonstrates how he used SketchUp to create a fictional 1970s-inspired bar packed with fluid, amorphous forms. This workshop is a 2 part look into how to design a fictional, funky bar.

Part 1: Forms

From circular alcoves with bespoke curved seating to a lava lamp-inspired glass ceiling feature, Sebban explains how SketchUp helped translate his vision into a fully realised 3D model. The workshop offers a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process, showing how digital tools can shape expressive interiors.

Part 2: Colours

In the second instalment of Dezeen and SketchUp’s Design Workshops, Julien Sebban of Uchronia demonstrates how he used SketchUp to add materiality and vibrant hues to his fictional 1970s-inspired bar.

Sebban explains how SketchUp allowed him to experiment with gradient walls, glass mosaic surfaces, and dynamic lighting, transforming the space with rich textures and playful details. He also showcases SketchUp’s 3D Warehouse, a tool for importing furniture and accessories to make a model feel more real.
